06 March 2009 - Launch of the charity CD 'Unspoken Moments' to raise funds for Marie Curie. Please give the girls a big hand as they aim to achieve 1000 CD sales. They're well on their way having achieved 450 sales in the past month alone.
Our Financial Controller, Tina Steenson, attended her friends 'Charity CD Launch' event at Ballydugan Mill on Friday 6th March.
Emma and Una are sisters who have been singing together for about 25 years. Both of their parents loved to sing and it was through their encouragement that they also developed a love for music and singing.
About a year ago they decided to record a few songs as people had always commented how well they sang together. It was only a month into the recording that they had the idea to record enough songs to produce an album. As many of their family and close friends have suffered or passed away from cancer, they then had the idea that they would release the album and raise some money for a cancer charity.
Around this time last year they had a close friend and also some neighbours who were using the Marie Curie facilities as both in-patients and out-patients and they saw firsthand the wonderful, caring, home from home service, provided by the Marie Curie Charity.
When they approached the musicians who play on the CD, that include Tina's husband Michael who played the guitar, there was no hesitation of them offering their talent. Tina's own mother had required the caring facilities of the Marie Curie Charity during her final fight with cancer during 2003.
The money raised from the sale of the CD will be going to help fund the fantastic work of the Marie Curie Charity.
CD's can be purchased by sending a cheque for £11 (£10 for CD + p&p) not forgetting to include your postal address.
